Companion: five questions to a neighbourhood shortlist
The Companion at /companion asks five questions about your move and returns a shortlist of neighbourhoods, each with the reasons it fits and the trade-offs, with no account needed to start.
The Companion is a guided way to start a home search when you know the city but not the neighbourhood. It asks which city you are considering (Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton or Toronto), what kind of move this is, who the place is for, how long a commute starts to feel too long, and which three things matter most. You can skip any question.
From those answers we build a shortlist from our scored neighbourhood data. Each card explains why the place fits your priorities, what you give up by choosing it, and what the data does not cover. You can save a place or set it aside, and the next set of suggestions takes your choices into account. After your first save, we offer to keep your shortlist, priorities and ruled-out places if you create an account. You can decline and carry on.
A deterministic engine picks the places. The AI model only writes the explanation, and it is not allowed to add figures that are not in the evidence.
