How we handle your information when you use PickYourPlace.

We don't sell your data, run behavioral ad tracking, or use targeting cookies.
Your conversations and reports are not used to train AI models.
Export your reports or delete your account at any time — just email us.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile avatar. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we only receive the basic profile information (name, email, avatar) permitted by your OAuth provider. Authentication is handled by Better Auth on our infrastructure; we do not receive or store your OAuth password.
Payment Information
Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment details on our servers. Stripe retains payment information in accordance with their privacy policy.
Reports & Conversation Data
We store the property and community reports you generate, your conversation history with the AI advisor, and any profile preferences you provide (such as household composition, target city, or search priorities). This data is used to deliver personalized analysis, maintain your report history, and route your queries to the right region.
AI Processing
When you use our AI advisor or generate a report, your messages and the AI's responses are sent to Anthropic for processing using Claude. Anthropic does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models, and we do not share your data with any other AI provider. Anthropic processes this data in accordance with their privacy policy.
Usage Data
We track usage counts (messages sent, reports generated) to enforce subscription limits. For website analytics, we use Simple Analytics — a privacy-friendly, cookieless service that does not collect personal data or track individual visitors. We do not use invasive behavioral tracking tools such as Google Analytics, Hotjar, or similar services.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect advertising identifiers or serve targeted ads.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
- We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or other device data.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Generate personalized property and community reports.
- Process subscription payments and manage billing.
- Enforce usage limits and prevent abuse.
- Communicate with you about your account and service updates.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate PickYourPlace:
Payment processing and subscription management.
AI processing for the advisor and report generation.
Authentication and session management (self-hosted).
Maps, geocoding, and isochrone routing.
Privacy-friendly, cookieless website analytics.
OAuth sign-in (no password is shared with us).
5. Data Security
All communication between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Account credentials are stored using industry-standard hashing.
6. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
- Reports: Retained according to your plan's history limits (30 days on Starter, unlimited on HomeSeeker and Pro Agent). Deleted reports are permanently removed.
- Conversation history: Retained while your account is active. Individual conversations can be deleted from your account.
- Payment records: Retained as required for billing, tax, and legal compliance.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Export your report data.
- Withdraw consent for data processing at any time.

8. Geographic Coverage
PickYourPlace currently serves Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Toronto. Data shown for these regions is sourced from the corresponding municipal, provincial, and federal data providers (see Our Data for the full list). Account data is hosted in Canada and the United States.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will promptly delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
