Do I need to pay just to explore neighbourhoods?
No. Exploring is free and stays free, and a free account keeps your search, shortlist and the places you have ruled out for as long as you want them. A Decision Pass is for the part that comes after: analyzing the places you are serious about, comparing them side by side, and checking what to verify before you commit.
Why would I buy a Decision Pass?
For depth on the places you are seriously considering: full analysis of specific addresses and communities, every layer and metric under each score, side-by-side comparison of the places you have analyzed, and Ask about your search. It is $129 once for one home search, valid 90 days, not a subscription.
Is there a free trial?
No, because the free part does not run out. A free account has no countdown and needs no card. When you want to investigate specific places, you buy a Decision Pass for that search, and nothing about your free account changes if you never do.
What happens when I use up my Decision Pass?
A pass includes up to 5 property analyses and up to 50 community investigations. Reopening a place you have already analyzed never uses another one. If you need more properties on the same search, you can add 3 more for $39. When the pass ends after 90 days, everything you did stays there to read; only new analysis stops.
How is Professional billed?
Professional is for agents and relocation professionals, and it is the only subscription: $99 a month, or $990 a year (two months free), through Stripe. A Decision Pass is never a subscription. It is one payment for one search and does not renew.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancelling Professional stops the renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. You can also manage billing directly through the Stripe customer portal from your account page. A Decision Pass has nothing to cancel, because it does not renew.
Is PickYourPlace a real estate agent?
No. PickYourPlace is an independent location decision tool for researching and comparing where to live. It does not represent you in a transaction and is not a substitute for professional, legal or financial advice.
Does PickYourPlace sell or list homes?
No. There are no listings and nothing is for sale here. The property data comes from municipal assessment records, which describe what exists and what it is assessed at, not what is on the market.
Where does the data come from?
Canadian public sources: municipal open data and assessment rolls, Statistics Canada, and federal and provincial hazard data. Every score says which measure produced it and what that measure does not capture.
Is the AI making up neighbourhood recommendations?
No. Which places are recommended, how they rank and what the trade-offs are is decided by a deterministic engine reading the location data. The model only writes the explanation, and it is checked against the underlying figures before you see it, so it cannot introduce a number it was not given. What the data cannot settle, the product says it cannot settle.
